How to use Moustache Wax

How to use mustache wax

Now that you have discovered the magical ability of mustache wax, you may be wondering the best way to use it. Although it's not rocket science, making the most of wax is equally not something that you're likely to have had a lot of experience at. If you haven't used a hard mustache wax before you may be wondering how to even get it out of the tin as you cannot just dip a finger in like with a gel or cream. You will need to learn the art of scraping off some wax with your fingernail.

This blog post explains how to wax your moustache and get the most of your product.

Types of Moustache Wax

Mustache Waxes generally come in two different variations,

a) Soft Gel like waxes that harden.

b) Hard Wax like substances that can be reworked through the day.

The former can make the moustache brittle, particularly in cold weather so we always recommend the latter.  The Beard and The Wonderful Mustache Wax is an example of a Hard Wax.

How to use Moustache Wax

Equipment Needed

Good quality Mustache Wax (best mustache wax here)
A Mirror
A little Patience
Hair Dryer (optional)

- Open the tin and scrape out a small amount with a finger nail (some prefer to use a small knife or ice-lolly stick)

 - Roll the wax between your fingers until it softens.  In a warmer climate or if kept in a pocket it may be soft enough straight out of the tin. You can give it a blast with your hairdryer to speed up this process.

 - with the was on your finger tips, rub over your moustache and it will hold position instantly.  If not, scrape out a little most and try again.

- start from the center of your moustache and work outwards to hold instant shape. If needed apply a little more.

If you want to add twirls or maybe a handlebar look, then you will need to apply the wax to the ends while applying a twist on the ends to make a point.

Now look in the mirror and admire your handsome self, but don't stand there too long, you got things to do.

how to remove moustache wax

Because our wax is not water soluble, you cannot simply wash it off. This is for a very good reason though as you will find when you have a drink or get a sweat on. The last thing you want is wax dribbling down into your mouth. So wax is great and indestructible, but how do you get it off?
- To get it off quickly you can use a shampoo, just rub the shampoo and massage in then wash out.
- You can also rub in some oil to soften it up and scrape out.
- Use a hairdryer to warm up the wax and wipe it off.
- After removing it, rub on some beard oil to condition your facial fur and keep it soft and strong.
